Meet Sarah Jane

Trained professionally as an organist and choral conductor, Sarah Jane is passionate about Sacred Music in the context of the Roman Catholic Liturgy. She is equally at home in both forms of the Liturgy and has extensive experience in music for both English and Spanish Masses. She currently freelances as an organist and choral conductor at churches in the NYC area. For the past several years, she has served, by appointment, on the Archdiocese of New York, Office of Liturgy, Music Commission.

Sarah Jane regularly directs professional vocal ensembles, amateur adult choirs, and children’s choirs. She maintains good working relationships with some of the most talented professional singers and instrumentalists in New York City.

As an organist, Sarah Jane is an enthusiastic proponent of maintaining and installing pipe organs wherever possible. While serving in the East Bronx, she directed the process of locating and installing a used pipe organ in a manner that was financially feasible for the parish.

Sarah Jane is passionate about the musical and religious formation of children. She grew up in rural New Jersey, where one of the only social and creative outlets available was the local church children’s choir. In each parish where she has served, forming a top-notch music program for youth has been a priority and she has founded several highly successful youth choirs, including graded parish choir school programs for girls and for boys.

In addition to parish work in music, she also served as Director of Religious Education and as a Pastoral Associate. She also has additional experience in alumni relations and parish development initiatives.
